My presentation at the recent ASTD TechKnowledge Conference in Las Vegas on mobile training challenges was scheduled for the last hour of the last day of the conference. I was pleasantly surprised to see over 30 attendees file into the conference room. I walked around the room and asked several why they were there. Almost every person was looking for the “next big thing.” We have all seen this before: 20 years ago it was training via CDROM. SCORM: It's Much More Than a Buzzword

To many, SCORM is just a buzzword that they are aware of and want in their e-Learning but do not fully understand or utilize to its fullest. This article provides an overview of SCORM and it benefits to e-Learning designers, developers and administrators.
SCORM stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model. This is a standardization and guideline for the delivery of reusable learning objects.
The strategy behind SCORM is to enable code and learning objects to be reused by standardizing them in a form that can run on any Learning Management System (LMS) that is SCORM-complaint. Standardizing these components allows learning objects to be shared between courses, curricula and enterprises.
